What is face reading?
Face reading, or physiognomy, is an old tradition that links facial features to character. It has cultural history but no good scientific support, so it is best used as a prompt for self-reflection, not as fact about anyone.
Where the tradition comes from
Versions of face reading appear in many cultures, including Greek writing and Chinese mian xiang. Each describes facial features as a kind of map of temperament.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, physiognomy was also misused to justify discrimination. That history is the main reason ROYA forbids using a reading to judge other people.
What modern research says
Controlled studies have not found reliable links between face shape and personality. People do form quick impressions from faces, but those impressions are often wrong.
So a reading can't tell you who you are. It can give you a useful question: does this description fit me, and what would I do differently if it did?
How to use a reading well
Read it about yourself, and keep what's useful. Notice what you disagree with too, since that's often the most revealing part.
Never use a reading to make a decision about another person.
